Red Canyon Utah
The alternative to the busy Bryce Canyon is Red Canyon off of Highway 12. We did a 12 mile mountain bike loop. We rode up a paved bicycle path that parallels highway 12 to Coyote Hollow Rd. From there we rode up to the Thunder Mountain trailhead. Then we rode through pine forest and snow up to the tops of red and white sandstone ridgelines filled with interesting rock formations and a narrow trail that snaked by the hoodoos and along knife-edge ridges to steep switchbacks into red canyons.
